NOTICE OF RACE


Hosted by the ACR Organizing Committee

1. Rules: The event will be governed by:

1.1. The rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2025-2028 (RRS).

1.2. The Race Committee may set rules specific to this event which may supersede parts of the RRS.

2. Advertising:

2.1. Advertising is permitted in accordance with ISAF Regulation 20.

2.2. Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority (sponsor flags on backstay).

3. Entry & Eligibility:

3.1. The ACR regatta is open to all seaworthy sailboats which are not less than 20 feet in length and who have a PHRF rating or equivalent for the SE USA area or as determined by the race committee.

3.2. Competitors must have submitted a complete Registration Form and payment to the Race Committee before 0900 on the 23rd of January 2025.

3.3 All boats participating must have a functioning VHF radio.

4. Registration & Fees:

4.1. While no registration fee will be charged for the regatta, all boats are requested to register at https://www.cruisersregatta.com/register-now

5. Event Format:

5.1. The Race Committee will attempt to accommodate all registered competitors as far as possible.

5.2. The regatta will constitute a 3-race series, with no more than two (2) races run on either racing day.

5.3. Each class will comprise a minimum of 3 boats. If enough competitors attend additional classes will be created on an “as needed” basis and determined by the Race Committee.

5.4. Intended classes of boats for this event will 1) PHRF with spinnaker, 2) PHRF without spinnaker 3) multihull class and 4) ‘mothertub’ class for slower, heavier cruising vessels who do not have

a PHRF certificate. More classes will be added if the number of competitors registered allows.

5.5. Schedule of Events:

5.5.1. Thursday January 23, 2025: Registration & Skippers Meeting at Elbow Cay, location - To Be Announced.

5.5.2. Friday, January 24, 2025:

• Racing will begin at 1230 (noon), near Parrot Cays. No more than two (2) races to be held each day and no more than three (3) races total over the two days.

• After party location to be announced at the skipper’s meeting on Jan. 23rd, with a start time of 1630.

5.5.3. Saturday, January 25, 2025:

• Racing will begin at 1230, near Parrot Cays. No more than two (2) races to be held.

• Awards presentation & After party location to be announced at the skipper’s meeting on Jan. 23rd, with a start time of 1700.

5.5.4. Sunday, January 26, 2025:

• Events will be announced no later than the skipper’s meeting on Jan. 23rd.

6. Courses:

The races will comprise of 3 ‘round the buoys' races. Details of the courses will be included in the Sailing Instructions provided at the skipper’s meeting January 23rd, 2025.

7. Scoring & Penalties:

7.7.1 The low point scoring system of Appendix A will be used. Penalties and protests in

accordance with RRS 2025-28. There will be no ‘drop race’.

7.7.2 The scoring will be PHRF time on time.

8. Disclaimer of Liability:

Competitors participate entirely at their own risk. See RRS rule 4, Decision to Race. The ACR Race Committee and any and all Sponsors shall not be held liable for, nor will accept any responsibility for any injury or loss of life to participants or others. In addition, ACR shall not be responsible or held liable in any way, for any loss of, or damage to any vessel or property damage suffered in any way, from any cause, occurring during, or related to any and all ACR race activity or any event or activity associated with the Regatta. The safety of a yacht or sailing vessel and her crew, the decision as to whether or not to start, and having started, whether or not to continue is the sole and exclusive responsibility of each yacht’s skipper.

9. Prizes:

There will be awards for the top 3 finishers of class or the overall winner in each class.
